We have been trying to import the product list. We typed up about 10 entries in the spreadsheet, saved it as text & tabs, opened KBilling and tested the import and it worked fine. We now have a list about 800+ lines long. We have tried to import it multiple times, with a different line error each time. As far as we can tell, everything is formatted correctly, and a different number of lines imports fine each time before the error. Plus, a line that imported fine on one attempt may not on the next, and vice versa. Then we have to delete each line one at a time to re-attempt, because it will not allow us to re-import on top of what is there. Any ideas?

The biggest problem I've seen with Excel is that it doesn't always put tabs on the end of the lines (needed to represent field markers where there is no data).

Also, what errors do you get from kBilling when trying to import?

If you can, send the import file over to support@ksoftware.net and I'll have a look to see what might be causing the problem.

The error says:

[IMPORT] line 10 (or whatever line it chooses each time) invalid - expected 10 tab characters but see 0

Continue with IMPORT?

I will send you the import file.

Thanks again for posting this. I sent you an email with this information.

For anyone else interested the problem has been fixed in the latest beta, feel free to grab it : http://www.k-billing.com/kbilling_installer_beta.exe

These changes will be integrated into .83 on Monday.

I downloaded the trial version and attempting to upload my customer list, but I continue to get an error. The error says "[IMPORT] Could not open import file"

Thank you for your help

Can you send the file over that you're trying to import? Send it to support@ksoftware.net so I can have a look.

Also, make sure no other programs have that file open (if you saved it from Excel, close Excel -- it keeps any files locked as long as it's open).

I closed the Excel file, I was able to download some of the files, but it stopped and said "Line 17 invalid - expected 27 tabs but see 24." I'll email the file.
