Hi,
Hopefully someone can provide some clarification to my confusion. My company uses Paypal's Website Payments Pro, and from what I understand I have access to Payflow Pro as well. When I try to setup kBilling to use the Verisign option (Payflow Pro) and then try to run a transaction, I get an error that user authentication failed. I don't know if I'm just entering the wrong information, or if Website Payments Pro in fact does not include Payflow Pro. Oh, I forgot to mention, I am in the US.

Any help with this will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Richard

Hi Richard!

I just tested this with another customer last week. It is a bit confusing to use because the username/password you use for your "Payflow Pro" account isn't your PayPal password. Even if you've signed up for the service (which is an addon to your PayPal account) it seems you have to contact PayPal to have then turn it on as well. At that time they should send you your "API username and password" - at least that's what they called it last week.

Hi Mitchell,
Thanks for the help. I'll have to contact Paypal, they've been giving out confusing answers as to what constitutes Website Payments Pro and what does not. I think I received three different answers last time I spoke with them.

There is certainly some product confusion going on over there. They essentially just purchased Versign's gateway service so there isn't really any tie to PayPal less what they've added as an afterthought.

The good thing is that the interface didn't change so kBilling should work just fine with it once you get the proper API authentication details.

Please let me know how it turns out!

Hi Mitchell,
I called Paypal, it turns out that they do include Payflow Pro with Website Payments Pro as part of a bundle. I was told they just introduced the bundle and that there is no upgrade path for existing customers. My company will need to get a new account and close the current one. I'll let you know if that is the route we go and if so, how it works out.

Again, thanks for all the help.

Regards,
Richard

Wow! I'm really surprised they did that.

It's something I'd like to take advantage of for K Software anyway so I'll give them a call as well.

Thanks for reporting back!

Any update on this? I use PayPal and would like it to interface with K-Billing for my Credit Card processing.

If you have PayPal's Payflow Gateway service then you can already use it in kBilling.

PayPal's PayFlow service is just Verisign under a different name. Select that from the CC Processor options in the kBilling settings and you're ready to go.

You'll also need these files : http://download1.ksoftware.net/pfpro.zip -- unzip them into C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\kBilling and you're ready to go!
