I can say I bought k-billing 1.3.x with the hopes that v.2 would be released sometime in the near future. That was over a year ago, and there is still no ETA. I can't I don't like k-billing, it's does what it's supposed to do. Now with Microsoft releasing Office Accounting Express 2007 software for free (just a 350+MB or so download) I think I might just move on and stop waiting.

You should look into what the free version of Microsoft accounting offers as every time you navigate the application it is asking you too upgrade too the full 2007 version.. It is also very much linked too the office suite and only wokrs well in combination with a minimum of office 2003 or preferably 2007..
Remember when things are free there is always a catch or a hidden extra somewhere. As a microsoft partner and certified engineer I woudl advise you too look before you leap on this

So do not bit off your nose too spite you face on this one and hang in there for Mitchell to finish the upgrade

Hi Omar. I'm sorry you're disappointed.

You're right about MS Accounting - there will be a free version. I would never suggest someone that needs all thwe functionality in it use kBilling. I've always tried to suggest the right tool for the job even when that tool isn't kBilling. I hope my software fills a niche for the small business but it does not try to be all things to all people. Since you didn't mention specifically what you were waiting on V2 for I can't offer any specific suggestions as to making 1.3.X work for you.

Robin, thanks for your post!

I was waiting for the template modification specifically, if I remember the reason why I was waiting for at the time I purchased the program. Also, the hopes that it would be able to tie into a website was going to be nice, but I think you scrapped that component. So what actually has been implemented in the new version so far? I'm sure there's a list somewhere about the new features you wanted to put into 2.0 but it's been a while since I think you may have talked about them.

So you're not using kBilling now?

Also, the hopes that it would be able to tie into a website was going to be nice, but I think you scrapped that component.

The problems with that are all technical but to sum it up there just isn't any feasible way to do it with any kind of security. If you have any specific ideas please feel free to share them!

So what actually has been implemented in the new version so far?

I can't really sum it up here as it's a total re-write so every single piece of the application is brand new. Can I put you on the testers mailing list? You'll get a first look as soon as something is ready for a peek.
