When entering a new customer for a recurring monthly invoice I generate a new invoice entering the correct dates for the invoice date and due date (both the same, both 4 days from todays date) then in the recur window I enter the same date in the next inv date box, click recur until void and generate inv 10 days before due date.

The invoice appears in the recurring invoice tab I click to generate but the dates always switch to todays date??

The invoice date that appears on generated invoices is goverened by the drop-down on the recurring invoices tab. Use that drop-down to select the date that you want to appear on the generated invoices as the invoice date.

i seem to have to choose that date in all 3 boxes to get both the correct due and invoice date to appear on my invoices?

but still have the problem with loosing the dates (switching to todays date) when the invoice is generated from recur inv tab to the invoices tab?

am i missing something here?

Ah, the due date is calculated based on the payment terms you select on the invoice. NET-30 sets the due date to invoice date + 30 days, Due on Receipt sets it to invoice date, etc.

You can find the Terms drop-down on the extras tab of the invoice window.

er, still having a problem with the dates!

i create a recurring invoice with due day and inv date both set for the same date 2 days from now, opting for generate 10 days before due day then save and close.

so a recurring invoice appears in the 'recurring invoice' tab, i open it to check all on print preview and all is fine so i click on generate recurring invoices.

the problem appears when the invoice is generated over in the 'invoices' tab and both invoice and due dates have switched to todays date and i have to go in and change both over before printing it out.

See the attached screenshot - change that date box to reflect what you want to appear in the invoice date box on the Pending invoices that are generated from your recurring templates.

thought i had missed something simple! thanks for that

could it be beneficial to just carry these dates through from the invoice?

just thinking if i didn't do my invoices for a week then found 10 recurring invoices from different days i would need to set the date and generate each one seperatly. i know this only a few clicks but less is more so to speak!

cheers

Carrying those dates through from the invoice is indeed possible. The date chooser on the tab was actually a work around for a shortcoming that was fixed some time ago. I'll take that off in the next release (or two, if it gets complicated). Soon you'll not have to fuss with that invoice date on the recurring tab at all!
