Problem: When using copy and paste function K-billing locks up. This can be repeated.

Procedure used to affect lockup.
Pick a customer from the Customer list. Open a web page, and so we are on the same page, go to British Columbia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_Columbia) and highlight the first words "British Columbia", select Edit > Copy. Go back to your K-billing selected customer and in the "State" Dropdown, left-click once in there to set the cursor, then right-click and select Paste. On the first incident, Windoze Vista opened the revised Blue Screen of Death Interventationist - the one with the option to "Click to search the Internet for a solution" or "Close..." Search just brings up the browser going to the church of Google. The second time around, start fresh with a new k-billing. Repeat the steps 1 to 3. This time Vista says the program isn't responding in the k-billing program "Customer ##### Ajax Computer Mashers Inc is not responding." Clicking the Close option brings up the Interventionists window... here are the "Details"

Personally, I think it's all Micro$oft code being sent between invading aliens and these crashes are just helping to guide the others here.

Additional Testing:
I copy and pasted from:
Excell 2007
Word 2007
Notepad

and all worked OK.

I repeated the test using the above 1 - 3 with the same crash.

CONCLUSION: Don't Copy & Paste anything from a web browser into the Dropdown "State".

and thar ya have it.

I'll try to reproduce this on my brand new Vista laptop but in the meantime - did it really report the application as "Application Name: kibbling.exe" ?

- did it really report the application as "Application Name: kibbling.exe" ?

I wouldn't sit and read and type all that alien code - it was copy and pasted from the popup error.

Amazing.. Vista can't spell the EXE's name right. You just can't make this stuff up!

I'm pretty sure you've discovered some sort of Windows API bug. The autocomplete code I'm using for the combo box in question is straight from MSDN. I'll give my guy at MS a call in the morning and go over the error report with him. Thanks for letting me know!

No problem - I'm glad I made someones day

I would be interested in the outcome - please keep me posted. I spent quite some time following the problem and nailing it down. M$ owes us that.

Just an FYI - I'm still waiting on more information from my support ticket at Microsoft on this one.

They've filed it as a bug but a fix is unlikely. It is reproducible the most under vista but started affecting XP users as well. As of 3.0 (in beta right now), the autocomplete code has been changed in all of the drop-down lists so it shouldn't crash from now on.

I run KBilling on XP and it works fine. When I am using it with Vista I often get a shutdown when I type text into the state window on the Ship To page. I use that window for something else and never use state names. What is really strange is sometimes I can type numbers into the state window on several accounts before all of the sudden "Windows must shutdown this program".

Did you copy & paste from a web browser into "State"?

I've confirmed the bug with Microsoft but it is in the underlying control and doesn't happen on everyone's machine (Which is why it was darn hard to track down!).

No. I entered numbers from my keyboard. I use that space for entering the expiration date of members of the resort I work for. Numbers such as 2035 or 2019, etc.
