Can kbilling invoice for time instead of per item? Is anyone doing this?

Also it appears that kbilling is "rounding up" when I produced my last invoice with 13 items, a time trackng software we use comes up with the total being $778.33, my calculator comes up with $778.33 but kbilling comes up with $778.34.... Any ideas?

I have tried to attach a jpg of the screen to try to help show what I am talking about.... The quantities are changed to numbers that make the dollar amounts equal the time manager....

Thanks in advance,

John

Every single week. I use quantity as the hours (it accepts decimals). Works great!

kBilling uses "Bankers Rounding", like most other financial software out there. You're using some pretty precise quantities so it isn't surprising that other software is calculating it a penny off.

To take care of that I bill in even increments of time -- quarter hours. It will save headaches trying to figure out your minute-rate!

Its actually kbilling that is doing the rounding. If you add the dollar amounts on the jpg it doesn't add up to what it says the total is.

The reason for the precise numbers in the jpg is to get the dollar amount it comes to to equal the detailed time report that I send with the invoice.

Understand about the 15 minute increments, I just haven't been doing business that way and would really not want to go there if I don't have to but thanks for the suggestion...

Thanks,

John

Oh, yes, it is kBilling doing the rounding. Though I can't see the full quantity numbers I doubt a 4+ decimal number is going to multiply out to an even 2 decimal number for currency -- some kind of truncation or rounding has to happen in order for a valid currency amount to result.

The difference is that your other software apparently isn't using banker's rounding and the difference in rounding techniques is leading to that penny difference.

I understand.

Have you thought about leaving the quantity at 1 and just filling in the price directly, then detailing the time in the description field? That would get rid of the multiplication rounding needed to calculate total price from quantity and should provide you with the same resulting total(s).

Thanks!
