I'm spending over $1,000 dls a month in advertising so I needed a way to track which ads are worth keeping. I created a spreadsheet to determine the ROI (return on investment) of all my offline advertising. To make this spreadsheet work I need to have the gross receipts and the cost of goods sold per advertisement. I was able to generate this information using the "Sold by" field in the Extra section of the Invoice screen by assigning Promo/Coupon codes instead of salespersons.
Although this works fine for now.. It sucks that I have to input the same promo code to every invoice of repeating customers and it also sucks that I have to sacrifice the "Sold by" field to accomplish this.
The Idea: To have a "Referred by" field in the main customer screen that could generate a Product Sales by Referral report similar to the Product Sales by Salesman. This report should include a Cost Total as well. :)
